Winter Wonderland in Whistler: Your January Snow Report

January 4, 2022

If you're a skier, then you've probably been anxiously watching the weather this season. Snowfall so far has been lacking across many resorts, leaving some resorts struggling to fully open. If you're headed to Whistler's ski resorts, then there's nothing to worry about: as OpenSnow indicates, Whistler is a real winter wonderland!

In the past few days, 15-83 cm of snow has fallen across most of BC. Storms yesterday and today are expected to add a good amount of fresh snow to the region's already deep base. With more snow storms in the forecast for Thursday and Friday, there's not a dry day in sight!

At Whistler Blackcomb, the powder is packed and ready for skiers! The current base depth is an excellent 257 cm, and it is growing by the day! Today's systems will weaken overnight, bringing flurries and then more light snowfall tomorrow. The rest of the week is slightly uncertain, but we do know to expect mild but consistent snow, plus seasonal temperatures! Anticipate around 50 cm in the next 5 days

As of today, Whistler's terrain is 99% open, with 239 of 241 trails and 23 of 27 lifts open. Skiers can take full advantage of the 8000+ acres of terrain! The snow is amazing, the air is brisk, and the skiing is phenomenal.

It's time to hit the slopes! Plan your next ski trip today!
